A collection of contemporary works exploring colour, texture, heritage and identity.

Across different bodies of works, I explore ideas of movement, connection, renewal and belonging through bold colour, layered texture, pattern and imagery.

Each collection develops its own visual language, reflecting different experiences, materials and ideas while remaining connected by my intuitive and experimental approach to art.

CALCULATED RISK

Mixed Media. Memory. Numbers. Texture.

Calculated Risk is a 12 piece mixed media installation exploring the tension between calculation and spontaneity,

Acrylic paint, collage, fragments of old ledgers, numbers and metallic copper leaf come together through layers of colour, texture and chance.

The repeated numbers and fragments suggest measurement, order and things we try to quantify, while the expressive marks and unexpected materials introduce freedom and uncertainty.

Together the twelve works become one conversation.

MAURI ORA TE REO

Language. Identity. Heritage. Resilience

Mauri Ora Te Reo explores the impact of lost language and the relationship between language, identity and heritage.

Drawing on my Māori whakapapa ( genealogy) and the experience of a generation who were discouraged from speaking Te Reo Māori, the works reflect on what is lost when language is silenced - and what remains.

The erased eyes and mouths speak to a loss of identity and voice, while the Moko Kauae (chin tattoo) represent something deeper: lineage, belonging and heritage that cannot be erased,

KORU

Growth. Renewal. Movement. Connection.

The Koru Collection is an evolving exploration of one of the most recognisable forms within Māori visual culture.

Inspired by the unfurling shape of the Koru, these works explore ideas of growth, renewal, movement and new beginnings.

I am drawn to the way the spiral can continually unfold while remaining connected to its centre. Through bold colour, repetition and expressive mark-making, I explore the Koru intuitively, allowing each work to develop its own energy.
